- DAY: 06.06
- STAGE: Desert Stage
- GENRE: psychodelic rock, stoner rock
- COUNTRY: Poland
Fans of relaxed space voyages and psychedelic drags will be sure to wait with bated breath for this performance, swinging from side to side. Having recently come back from their hiatus, Ampacity is one of the best Polish bands on offer if you’re looking for something between the freedom of space rock and the acidity of psychedelic rock. Multi-layered improvisations and gradual and consistent build-up of melodic waves and an overpowering trance – this is exactly what you will get from them.
History:
Ampacity was formed in 2012 in Gdynia by – as is the case with many great bands – a group of friends who wanted to play together music that escapes classification. Fronted by the guitarist, Piotr Paciorkowski, the band couldn’t be pinned down with a single label from the start. This is evident in their debut album, “Encounter One”, released a year after the band’s formation. The impactful 2013 record caught the attention of audiences both in Poland and beyond, with reviewers and fans of broadly understood stoner music praising the band’s genre-bending which produced an intriguing mix of space, psychedelic, kraut, and space rock.
Since then, the band has toured regularly both across Poland and Europe. The following records, the sophomore album Superluminal and an EP titled “The Sum of All Flaws” (released respectively in 2015 and 2016) further developed the style foregrounded on the debut – it sounded better, and it was better composed. Unfortunately, after releasing the latter, the band went on a hiatus, and they wouldn’t rise from hibernation until 2023. That same year the band released their comeback record, IV, which was well-received and presented Ampacity in top-notch form. The band has been performing live a lot and Mystic Festival surely won’t be the only summer festival that you will be able to catch these guys at.
