The music might have emerged from the hardcore punk underground, but it is full of beauty and sensitivity. A sound permeated by post-punk references, yet played as if peak-years Oasis took on the genre. In a blink of an eye, High Vis became the up-and-coming sensation of the British alternative scene and the energetic rhythms of their songs blended with almost brit-pop or alt-rock melodies only add to their refinement. Hardly surprising, with their being from London and all, being posh is in their veins.
History:
High Vis has existed for only a couple of years (the band was formed in 2016), but there are no rookies. The band emerged from the ashes of a few promising hardcore bands from the London underground (e.g. Dirty Money or The Smear), which is a key element for their band identity.
From the very first gigs the band played not long after its formation, High Vis quickly began drawing attention with their ability to craft melancholic melodies packaged in a hardcore madness on stage. Due to this, the band’s first recordings, i.e. the singles “A Fist for When You’re Down / Positive Intervention” and “Luxor / Tribute” from 2017, did not fly under the radar of British post-punk fans.
The band gained further recognition with their debut album “No Sense No Feeling” from 2019, where the band’s style, a blend of post-punk and 90s alternative rock, fully crystallised. But the real breakthrough came in 2022, when the band released their most recent album, “Blending”. The lyrics full of hope intertwined with bitterness and songs full of punchiness have increased the popularity of High Vis all across Europe and led them to sell out many concert.
