Norway, black metal – all’s clear. Mork’s very origins, name and the whole entourage suggest what they play. And it’s the purest form of the 90s black metal, but with the production and a bit more complex craftsmanship that prove it’s the 21st century, not the cheap worship of the years past. Nevertheless, expect blasts, wild tremolos, and a tonne of misanthropy.
History:
Mork was created in 2004 in the Norwegian town of Halden and ever since the beginning, it has been the completely solo project of Thomas Eriksen, known for example from The Deathtrip. At first, the progress of the project was rather slow. In 2007, the musician released some demos, but it wasn’t until six years later – under the influence of the newly found fascination with Darkthrone – that he commenced the attack with his first album, Isebakke. The material was met with positive reviews on the black metal scene and ever since then Eriksen has no time for laying around. In just 2015 he released two EPs, only to take the world by storm in 2016 with the next album, “Den vandrende skygge”. Since then, the artist hasn’t wasted a moment, and the 2017 record deal with the iconic Peaceville Records made him even more recognisable. The latest Mork’s release is Dypet from 2023.
