They’ve described their own work as ‘party slam’ and it really is like a good party – chaotic, brutal, with the episodic appearance of vomit. The brutal death metal served by Party Cannon is characterised by lyrical levity (though the lyrics do occasionally touch upon themes such as bloodthirsty corporations and other earthly filth), but sonically, they have no mercy. History:
The Scottish band Party Cannon was formed in 2010. In the beginning, the band focused on sharpening their tools, not forcing things to happen before their time. They started with sheepishly released singles and demos and in 2013, the band presented to the world their debut EP, “Partied in Half”.
The vivacious and invigoratingly brutal sound, often paired with absurd and repulsive lyrics, did what it was supposed to do. The fans of the intoxicating slam/brutal death metal niche quickly claimed the talented musicians as one of their own. And so, in 2015, the band released their first full-length album “Bong Hit Hospitalisation”. Numerous concerts followed, including the first one on American soil – more specifically, during Bay Area Deathfest.
Since then, Party Cannon has recorded one more album (“Volumes of Vomit” from 2022) and a couple of smaller releases, continuing their upward trajectory, and reaching heights most bands with a similar generic convention can only dream of. To name just a few of them, they have played many respected festivals, such as Bloodstock or Summer Breeze, and toured the UK with Gwar as their supporting act.
