Pigs x7

The heaviest pigs in Great Britain? Could be, as Pigs x7, besides their alluring name, have a full package of earth-shattering riffs up their sleeve. The quintet form the Isles creates the sluggish stoner in the best way – it’s supposed to be slow, old school, with occasional accelerations and slides down to the psychedelic or even – momentarily – noise rock, which just enriches this intriguing armoury. Once you see them, you will want to grow an impressive moustache.

History:

Pigs x7 emerged in 2012 in Newcastle, and they explain their name as “a joke that’s gone a bit too far.” Except for some drummer revisions in 2017-2021 the group’s line-up hasn’t changed. In 2013, the bad showed their face to the world thanks to their split with The Cosmic Dead, but the true spark was their fully fledged debut album released four years later, Feed the Rats. The group offers stoner doom waltzes with a psychedelic entourage which has been appreciated not only in the world of the genre. The legendary British “The Guardian” put the formation among the most promising new groups of the past years, and their 2018 record, “King of Cowards” made them even more popular. It’s this record that the well-known “The Quietus” called “epic and sprawling”. During the pandemic, in 2020 the band stroke with their third LP, Viscerals, which showcases a band acquainted with more song-like forms, but still letting noise rock shine through their stoner core. Their latest album, the 2023 “Land of Sleeper”, also gathered positive reviews from both the fans and the press.
